Free Barcode Generator
Create static 1D barcodes directly in your browser. The downloaded code contains your value, not a tracking redirect: no account, backlink, attribution, per-code limit, or expiry mechanism.
A free barcode that keeps working
This generator creates a static barcode from the exact value you enter. There is no LabelFlow Pro redirect URL inside the symbol, no analytics wrapper, and no requirement to create an account, credit the tool, or place a backlink on your site. Once the image is printed, the barcode remains usable for as long as the value and the receiving scanner workflow remain valid. You can create and download as many individual codes as you need while the tool is available, at no charge.
Use it for a single SKU, internal asset ID, carton mark, or print test. For QR, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec, GS1, DataBar, and MaxiCode checks, use the free barcode scanner and creator. For spreadsheet-driven work, use this page as a validation step and then move the same values into LabelFlow Pro's Excel label workflow. A single generated PNG is fine for a sample label, but batch jobs need controlled label sizes, quiet zones, data binding, and preview across many rows.
Create and use a barcode in four steps
- Choose the format: use Code 128 for flexible internal IDs; only choose EAN-13, UPC, or ITF-14 when your number already meets that standard.
- Enter the exact value: preserve leading zeroes and do not add spaces unless they are truly part of the identifier.
- Download the original: choose PNG for ordinary documents or SVG for a crisp scalable file. Do not stretch a downloaded barcode after export.
- Print and scan a sample: leave clear white space around the bars, print at 100% scale, and verify the physical label with the scanner used in the real workflow.
For a visual, spreadsheet-based walkthrough with product screenshots, follow the barcode labels from Excel tutorial.
Supported barcode formats
- Code 128: flexible internal IDs, SKUs, warehouse labels, and asset codes.
- EAN-13: retail product identifiers and GTIN-style data.
- UPC: common US retail product codes.
- Code 39: simple alphanumeric labels for industrial workflows.
- ITF-14: carton, case, and logistics labeling where numeric-only data is required.
- Need GS1, DataBar, or MaxiCode? Use the scanner and creator page for broader format testing.
Common use cases
- Create a sample product barcode before designing a full product label.
- Generate a barcode image for a maintenance tag, asset label, or temporary shelf label.
- Test whether a value scans correctly before printing a large inventory batch.
- Prepare a quick barcode PNG for documentation, QA records, or a mockup.
Troubleshooting barcode output
If a barcode does not generate, the selected format probably does not match the data. EAN-13 and UPC are numeric retail formats with fixed length rules, while Code 128 accepts a wider range of text. If you are unsure, start with Code 128, then check the final barcode with the free barcode scanner.
If a printed barcode does not scan, check the physical size, print contrast, and quiet zone around the code. Avoid stretching the PNG after download. For thermal printers, use the thermal printer test page first so scaling and darkness are correct before you print production labels.
Retail number check: generate a symbol, not a retail identity
This tool can encode a valid-looking EAN or UPC symbol when the data meets that format's rules. It does not assign a product number, company prefix, or retail listing. Use a number issued through your own GS1 or retailer workflow for products that must scan in retail systems; use Code 128 for internal SKUs, assets, warehouse locations, and operational labels.
Privacy and local processing
The barcode preview is generated in the browser. That makes this page suitable for ordinary SKU and operational testing because you do not need to upload a spreadsheet or create an account. For sensitive internal records, avoid placing private customer or regulated data inside a public-facing barcode unless your own workflow requires it.
When to use LabelFlow Pro instead
Use the free tool for individual barcode images. Use LabelFlow Pro when you need to import Excel or CSV rows, bind barcode values to a reusable template, print many labels at once, or combine barcodes with product names, prices, serial numbers, and logos. Good next steps are the Code 128 Excel label template, the barcode inventory label template, and the guide on printing barcode labels from Excel.
You can also use the QR code generator, sequential number generator, the scanner and creator, and the free tools hub when you are testing values before building a full label batch.
